Hawaiian Skin Heaven: Leahlani Skincare Review

From the packaging to the products, this line is AMAZING! It is apparent that Leah took her time carefully designing  and perfecting her products.  Every single product feels and smells so amazing – it is honestly Hawaii in a bottle.  Every time I use the products, I am instantly transported to Kauai, where all of the products are hand made.

All of their products are made from fresh Hawaiian nectars, potent and vibrant botanical actives and luxurious, tropical beauty oils. Their products are ‘blended fresh weekly in intimate batches in their private studio on the lush North Shore of Kauai Island’ – I know, I wanted to airbnb their studio after reading this too.

I really can’t imagine this line not being a good fit for someone.  The products I’ve tried (below) are definitely more on the hydrating side but they do an excellent job in making your skin feel nourished and clean.  The owner, Leah, created this line because she had struggled with cystic acne for many many years, and wanted stop using chemicals, and start healing her skin.

This is a skincare line that I actually look forward to putting on in the morning and at night.  It transforms your skincare regime from a daily to-do (eye roll) into a ritual.  What makes it really convenient too are the step by step rituals created on the website under ‘Shop by Concern’.  There are a lot of products within the line so having this guidance is extremely helpful – not all lines have this readily available for you.

ALOHA AMBROSIA MORNING MOISTURE ELIXIR

MOISTURIZE  •  PRIME  • GLOW

This is the product I was most pleasantly surprised by.  I am usually not a fan of putting oil on my face, especially in the morning.  I always have this feeling that I am going to break out or my makeup is going to slide off during the day but let-me-tell-you, this product is a MUST.  Within a couple days of using this, I noticed my skin looked more plump and fine lines started to disappear.  My skin really sucked this moisturizer up and I was really impressed at how well it worked as a primer – it reminded me of Hourglass’s Veil Mineral Primer!  This product truly is a treat for your skin with its’ youth enhancing antioxidants and vitamins, derived from organic mangosteen, goji berry, guava and passionfruit oils.  Oh and just like every other product, this moisturizer smells like a tropical rainforest!  Tip: a little goes a long way – I only use a half pump!

MERMAID MASK

PURIFY • NOURISH • REVIVE

I was first introduced to this skin care line as I was searching for an organic and clean skin care line, and it all started with the Mermaid Mask.  What I love about this gorgeous emerald green mask is its’ ability to both detoxify with french green and sea clay, and nourish your skin with superfoods chlorella and spirulina at the same time.  Often times, you are forced to choose either a clay based detoxifying mask or a nourshing and hydrating mask.  I love how clay masks work but sometimes they leave my skin feeling a little raw.  With the added organic raw honey, chlorella, spirulina, algae, sea buckthorn C02, and essential oils, your skin feels nothing but rejuvenated.   Tip: it may take a few times to get the consistency right but you will need to add some water to the product before applying!

MELI GLOW ILLUMINATING NECTAR MASK

ILLUMINATE  • PLUMP • MOISTURIZE

As a mask lover, I can’t stop raving about Leahlani’s masks.   They do an amazing job purifying and rejuvenating  your skin.  The very first thing I noticed about this mask is its’ smell.  It smells like the most amazing strawberry smoothie you’ve ever had in your life. I was instantly transported to Kauai’s beaches  – envisioning myself catching some rays while sipping on a strawberry margarita.  Along with rose clay, you really notice the benefits of the strawberry and starfruit enzymes in this mask.  I am a huge lover of fruit enzymes in masks because as gentle as they are, they provide your skin with an amazing illuminating effect.  This mask is a little on the sticky side with its’ organic raw honey but I promise you that the honey and hylauronic acid this mask contains will provide you with the moisture your skin has been missing. Tip: apply in the shower and leave on for a few minutes for better results! The steam will allow the ingredients to penetrate your skin deeper.

BLESS BEAUTY BALM

This pink beauty is unique because it doubles as a moisturizer and cleanser.  It is an excellent choice if your skin is very dry or you have dry patches on your skin.  The consistency is solid but as soon as you scoop some out, it immediately starts melting and emulsifying into a silky moisturizer.  To me, this product is similar to coconut oil but contains potent skin softening and skin nourishing ingredients.  Tip: a little goes a longgg way!

BOHEMIAN RUBY BALANCING TONING MIST

HYDRATE •  BALANCE  •  SOOTHE

If you are looking for a rose toning spray, look no further.  This toner uses pure aloe water, organic floral hydrosols, and mineral rich Hawaiian sea silt, leaving your skin calm, hydrated, balanced, and nourished.  This is definitely one of the products I look forward to using every day.  There is something about the refreshing and calming scent that is totally relaxing.  Tip: spritz this toner all over your face after cleansing or using a mask – just make sure your face is dry so that your skin can suck up all of its’ hydrating ingredients.

HONEY LOVE EXFOLIATOR

CLEANSE  •  EXFOLIATE  •  TRANSFORM

All you have to do is watch this video to fall in love with this product -https://www.leahlaniskincare.com/pages/inside-the-studio-2.  This mask’s stimulating clays and microdermabrasion crystals will lightly remove dead skin cells allowing a mask and other products to penetrate deeper into your skin, which in turn will give your skin a lovely glow.  Tip: use this product prior to one of the masks.  You will see MUCH better results if you exfoliate your skin prior to using a mask.
